Accessibility Statement

Following a robust audit by the Georgia Tech Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation, The Nora Project built this new version of its website to reduce barriers to content by implementing measures that facilitate an inclusive, accessible online experience for users with assistive technology. The site incorporates federally mandated Section 508 compliance standards and best practices recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) (Level AA) for web accessibility. Examples of the platform’s accessible design include:

  • Easy and logical navigation

  • Access to information in a clear and consistent manner for screen readers

  • Keyboard accessibility

  • Legible fonts and high-contrast colors for easier readability

  • Text alternative fields for every non-text element when appropriate

The site is still only partially compliant, with the following known limitations:

  • Platform widget customization limitations prohibit optimizing widget accessibility.

  • The platform’s webstore checkout page is presented as a table but not coded as one, creating a frustrating shopping experience for visitors using screen readers.

  • Label text for form fields is not optimized, though it is included wherever possible.

  • Popups are not accessible to screen readers and lack visible focus.

  • Old blog posts have not been reformatted for contrast or to include alternative text.

The Nora Project is continuously working to increase accessibility and meet all levels of accessibility conformance and guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@thenoraproject.ngo or 513-454-7420.
