Embracing Change, Transforming Lives
On August 29th, we presented Embracing Change, a 45-minute family-friendly broadcast with an inside look at stories of transformation in Nora Project classrooms. Renowned storyteller Kevin Kling joined us to co-host the broadcast and wowed the audience with two of his own pieces —“Tickled Pink” and “The Story of the Cracked Pot.”
If you missed the event, or want to watch it again (and again!), you can do so here. For those looking for an extended audio-described version, you’ll find it here, and a downloadable transcript is available here.
Want to see the impact of your support of TNP but don’t have 45-minutes to spare? Take a peek at the program videos we shared as part of the broadcast—from our littlest learners to high schoolers, the impact is remarkable. And it’s all possible because of generous sponsors and donors who understand the importance of disability education and inclusive curriculum.
Teaching Empathy at an Early Age: Primer Pack
Created for students ages 3-8, the Primer Pack helps develop lifelong values and primes kids to think like includers from a young age and to understand the importance of belonging. Watch as three teachers share the impact of the Primer Pack lessons on their students.
Learning to Love Our Stories: The Storyteller Project
Available for fourth and fifth graders, the Storyteller Project allows students to explore their own stories, the stories of their peers, the story of the disability rights movement, and then to share a story of their own—a collective story of the friendships they built. Ian had a great experience in the Storyteller Project and the project helped him learn to embrace himself. Watch Ian’s story.
Rethinking High School Biology: STEMpathy club
The educators and students at Penn took on The Nora Project’s STEMpathy Club—a curriculum that challenges students of all abilities to work together to identify barriers to inclusion in their school, and then calls on them to design and implement solutions that remove those barriers. Watch how the STEMpathy Club at Penn transformed high school biology to make it accessible for everybody.
Please join us in extending a heartfelt thank you to our event sponsors for making the Embracing Change broadcast possible.
The live broadcast may be over, but there’s still time to support the event. Make a gift via the event website or our Facebook fundraiser, or check out one of the items available at buy-now prices on the silent auction. The auction will close at 5 p.m. CST on Sunday, September 5.
