Donor Spotlight: Wendy & Kirk Miller
We often talk about the “magic of TNP” -- this incredible network of supporters that continue to invest in our mission and most importantly, in our students. Meet Wendy and Kirk Miller, generous TNP donors who made their very first gift to our launch campaign in 2017. The Millers have since set up an automatic recurring donation, ensuring that their support continues month after month.
We caught up with Wendy and Kirk recently to learn more about their inspiration for giving.
What does giving to The Nora Project mean to you?
We give to The Nora Project not only because we deeply believe in in their mission, vision and values and have adored Lauren since the moment I first saw her beautiful smile and heard her contagious laugh but most importantly because The Nora Project has given me an opportunity to reflect on my own biases and participate in making room for everyone to be heard, included and appreciated for their own unique gifts.
What impact do you hope your gifts have on The Nora Project participants?
I hope our gifts provide the opportunity to reach more and more schools and classrooms and continue to create awareness for teachers, students and the greater community of exactly how crucial this important work is to creating a kinder, gentler, more inclusive world for all of us.
What inspired you to set up your recurring monthly donation?
After making a few one time donations and reflecting on the amazing things we were seeing happening with The Nora Project, we wanted to show our true commitment by making recurring donations. We believe it’s nice to know they can count on us each and every month. Which reminds me… it is most likely time to up the ante a bit!
When you think of The Nora Project, what comes to mind?
Endless love, fierce perseverance, eternal hope, firm dedication, compassion, inclusion, belief.
I think of a little tiny warrior that has overcome tremendous obstacles to remind us that we all can make a difference in this world if we believe we can.
What would you tell someone when they say: "my small gift won't matter?"
Of course the obvious -- every dime, nickel or penny helps! But, I also think about the flame of a single candle. It doesn’t provide a ton of light on its own but that single candle has the power to light dozens or even hundreds of other candles and the world shines brighter because of a single flame.
Join Wendy & Kirk in supporting The Nora Project with a gift today! Your one-time or recurring gift will make a difference for Nora Project students and educators in another difficult school year.
