Last Chance to Sign Up! Perks of TNP Partnership
There are just two weeks left to get your school signed up to participate in The Nora Project! If you’re on the fence, we wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the amazing perks that come with signing up for our Lifecycle Suite of Programs. These year-long programs provide students with weekly lessons that are proven to increase their empathy skills, help them build healthy relationships, and teach them about disability as a natural and expected part of human diversity. But they’re not just great for kids - they provide educators with a suite of tools and supports that help them grow personally and professionally.
At our Virtual Open House this winter, we shared all about the Perks of Partnership. You can watch the recording of that event here, but let’s review some of the highlights:
High-quality training at our virtual Summer Training Camp
Our lineup for Training Camp this summer is our best yet, and we can’t wait to welcome our participating educators and their fellow staff members back to learn with us. Our summer training has two goals: to prepare educators to implement our programs successfully in their classrooms and to educate them about disability and inclusive practices. We know that few adults have had the opportunity to learn about disability inclusion, and even fewer have been trained by members of the disability community sharing their lived experience. Our Training Camp gives educators the tools and confidence they need to bring our programs to life in their schools and to live out an Ability Inclusive Mindset in their classrooms.
1.On-Demand Access to TNP Staff
Our staff members are standing by on-demand to support educators as they implement our programs in their schools. Our schools are partnered with dedicated Program Coaches who make sure that teachers have everything they need to be successful. This includes brainstorming ideas, problem-solving as challenges arise, and sharing ideas for how to continuously improve our programs and develop new ones. You can learn more about our Program Coaches in this recent post. Additionally, we’re lucky to have our Inclusion Specialist, Dr. Janie Avant, who is available to support educators with anything related to inclusive education. She specializes in creating adapted and modified materials and helping teachers come up with ways to make their classrooms more inclusive for all students.
2. Use of our Points to Ponder professional development curriculum
Did you know that TNP has created a curriculum for educators too? Our Points to Ponder professional development curriculum is designed so that participating schools can educate their whole staff about disability as diversity and the Ability Inclusive Mindset framework. This 6 session curriculum comes with everything a school needs to run staff meetings, lunch and learns or other trainings so that all educators can be introduced to the concepts embedded within TNP programs.
3. Connections with TNP educators across the continent through our intranet site, WeThrive
That’s right - when you sign up as a Nora Project Partner School, we connect you with educators across the U.S. and Canada. Our WeThrive platform gives educators instant access to all of the documents and resources they need to implement our programs, view and engage with our Training Camp materials, and connect with fellow Nora Project educators. This year we’re taking it a step further by connecting all of our Training Camp participants with a Pod, facilitated by a longtime TNP educator. This will help educators build community and connection this summer and throughout the school year.
