The Nora Project for Adults

Nearly every time we speak to anyone about the disability studies and empathy education programs The Nora Project provides to schools, folx respond with some version of, “I wish I was a kid so I could do The Nora Project,” or “Hey, adults need that, too.” 

YES. THEY. DO. 

All people need this education— especially adults with unconscious or internalized biases— which is why for the past year, The Nora Project has been honing a presentation for community leaders we call Disability Inclusion 101. In 60-90 minutes, depending on how much time folx have, our Chief Program Officer, Katy, and Director of Professional Development, Jordyn, take adults through a crash course on disability studies, examining models of disability, ableism and microaggressions, concepts of universal design, the difference between disabled lived experience and the lived experience of caregivers, and more. For most people, the content is entirely new and transformative.
