Last week The Nora Project welcomed Jen Newton, PhD as our new Strategic Program Advisor and Director of Innovation!

In addition to her work at TNP, Jen is an associate professor at Ohio University. Her research interests include anti-racist, anti-ableist education, early childhood inclusion, and inclusive teacher preparation. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, she served as an early interventionist and an inclusive prekindergarten teacher. Jen earned her doctorate in special education from the University of Kansas and has been preparing and supporting anti-ableist educators both in their college coursework and in their in-service practice ever since.

Along with another educator, Mira Williams, Jen runs the Instagram account @TeachingIsIntellectual where they regularly share educational content with their 17,000 followers. “Through my work, I created a social media presence to provide accessible and provocative content to teachers about how and why we must move toward more inclusive practices, which is how I became familiar with The Nora Project.”

Before officially joining our team, Jen worked with us in various capacities including consulting on projects and presenting at our educator Training Camp for the past three years. As the Strategic Program Advisor and Director of Innovation, Jen will be working on high level program strategy and vision, and will be supporting all functional areas of the organization.

Thanks for joining us in welcoming Jen to TNP! Get to know the rest of the team here.
