Introducing The Nora Project Play Pack

Real talk: parenting is challenging. Parenting in a global pandemic can feel nearly impossible. Parenting during a time in humanity where our evolution as a society is critical...is terrifying. Not knowing what to say, what to do, or how to ensure your children understand and are part of the change. There are no right answers and there is certainly no playbook to follow. This becomes increasingly complicated when the schools we often rely on to help teach our children social emotional learning may not be physically in session this year. The Nora Project understands these concerns as well as the desire to facilitate important conversations and lessons at home to help our children become a generation of inclusive, empathetic and kind citizens.

Parents and caregivers are playing a more critical role in the education of our students than ever before. Why not help teach important lessons and skills through fun, and engaging play-based learning? Through an exciting collaboration with Discovery Toys, The Nora Project could not be more excited to introduce The Nora Project Play Pack to help fuel this play-based learning at home. Now available for pre-order on The Nora Project website, the Play Pack contains 3 curated toys and a custom insert full of lessons and play ideas created by Nora Project educators. These three toys will teach your children lessons closely linked to The Nora Project’s curricula, including how to own their stories, identify their emotions, and engage with early concepts of diversity, intersectionality, and disability!

We Belong Together Puzzle

Included in the Play Pack is the We Belong Together Puzzle which is a completely re-designed toy that includes disability diversity. The puzzle is a double-sided, 3D puzzle with which students can mix and match different pieces to explore and learn more about diversity and difference.

The Pack also includes Flip Flop Faces - a toy that can be used to explore and teach about the emotions that we feel each and every day. Flip Flop Faces can be used in a variety of ways which are included in the insert and is a toy that will be loved and played with in a variety of ways over the years.

Once Upon a Time Change the Story Book

The third toy included is the Once Upon a Time Change-The-Story Book which will not only provide entertainment to children, but will also teach that we each have a story that we can control and share with others. This book is not only engaging, but also helps to promote conversations about how our stories are ours to make and that we must also value the stories of others.

Discovery Toys grow with your child and the selections were curated for entire family fun. These are adaptable toys that have been designed to grow with your child over the years.

Having meaningful conversations about feelings and emotions as well as diversity can be challenging, even for adults. Many adults do not feel that their young children are ready for conversations about disability or race, and with privilege and the best of intentions, shy away from these lessons and teachable moments. However, our world today shows more than ever that the work to create a more inclusive and equitable world starts with each and every one of us, including our next generation. The Nora Project Play Pack offers game ideas and talking points to encourage vulnerable and honest discussions at home. The toys provide time for adults and children alike to come together in a fun setting to learn very critical lessons.

During a time where social emotional learning and important conversations at home are more important than ever, The Nora Project Play Pack will give you the confidence to talk to the children in your life through play. We hope you will support The Nora Project and spark a conversation with your children by pre-ordering your Play Pack today!
