Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)! This year’s theme is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”

In honor of IDPD, we’re sharing all the ways that team TNP celebrates today, and all year long. We celebrate the leadership of our disabled teammates, board members, and leadership council members. We celebrate our partners in program consulting, curriculum writing, sourcing and logistics, and web development who identify as disabled and share our values of cultivating inclusive workplaces and communities. We celebrate our teachers who are committed to building inclusive, accessible, celebratory spaces for students with disabilities. We celebrate our students, who are reimagining a world designed and built for everyone because they value disability as diversity and hold inclusion as a fundamental value. And we celebrate our donors, whose generosity is transformational in building an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.

Here’s a list of ways you can celebrate:

  1. Head over to the United Nations website and register for virtual sessions on global inclusion taking place throughout the day.

  2. Follow the hashtag #IDPD on your favorite social media platforms and make a post in celebration and solidarity of your own!

  3. Commit to learning more about disability culture, to building an inclusive workplace, and to teaching your children the value of disability diversity.

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities to one and all!
