Pride Amplified Showcase Viewing Guide
On October 11th, we presented Pride Amplified - a virtual telethon-style event that introduced viewers to the work of The Nora Project and featured some incredibly talented disabled artists and activists. If you missed the live broadcast, don’t worry! We’ve put together a viewing guide for you so that you can tune into the highlights.

2:20 - Want to learn more about The Nora Project’s school programs? Watch this short clip put together by The Nora Project program team to learn about our Lifecycle Suite of Programs for students in preschool through high school.
7:37 - This year, The Nora Project awarded the first ever Distinguished Supporters Award to Dave and Aimi Palmer, long-time supporters of the organization. In this segment you’ll learn the serendipitous story of how Lauren met Dave and Aimi, and you’ll see an interview of the Palmers and why they believe so much in The Nora Project. The Palmers surprised us later in the broadcast by increasing their matching gift from $30,000 to $50,000! (You can see Lauren’s reaction to that news at 35:10!)
14:17 - Maysoon Zayid, actor, comedian, and disability activist, gave our first performance of the afternoon. Her hilarious set also sheds light on the importance of disability awareness.
20:55 - We had the pleasure of interviewing four Nora Project teachers to learn about their experiences. Listen to the ways in which The Nora Project has impacted them personally and professionally, and what they’ve seen in their students as a result of participation.
27:42 - Our next performance came from Gabriel Roderick, also known as Freaque. He composed, played, choreographed and directed this incredible work. In his introduction, Gabriel shares his thoughts about the impact disability has had on his own life and outlook.
38:29 - Tina McKee is featured in our next clip as she works on a painting where she works at Passion Works studio in Ohio. She shared her ideas about kindness and friendship as we observe her artistic process.
40:20 - Ever wonder what our students think about participating in The Nora Project? This video is a compilation of students’ reflections on their Nora Project experiences. You can’t help but smile when you watch!
45:12 - The Nora Project’s Leadership Council lends their support and guidance to the organization in a variety of ways. Listen to what some of the members have to say about why they believe The Nora Project is providing vital classroom programming.
48:21 - Our next performance comes from singer, songwriter, and disability inclusion advocate, Lachi. Lachi performs her original song, “Unafraid.”
52:20 - The Nora Project programs take place in school, but their impact travels home with students to their families, too. In this clip, you’ll meet the Gottschall’s, whose daughters have both participated in The Nora Project.
56:52 - To round out the broadcast, our headliner: the incomparable Gaelynn Lea. Gaelynn is a violinist, singer, songwriter, public speaker and disability activist. Gaelynn explains the importance of using programs like The Nora Project to educate students about disability as a part of human diversity and performs her original song “Watch the World Unfold.” Want to hear more?
