TED Talks: Maysoon Zayid

It’s time again for us to share one of our all-time favorite TED talks with you all: Maysoon Zayid’s “I got 99 Problems...Palsy is Just One.” Maysoon Zayid, stand-up comedian and disability activist, uses the TED stage to keep the audience rolling with laughter, but touches on some critically important points about the limited representation of disability in the media, and how we need to ensure that there are more positive representations of disability in media so that our children grow up understanding disability as a natural and expected part of human diversity.

Maysoon also shares stories about not getting cast in play about a girl with CP (6:30), and about facing criticism about her disability online after getting a gig as a co-host on a cable news show (11:00). You’ll laugh - and you’ll learn something too!
